Club Youth Captains
The WSC Youth Sailing Committee is pleased to announce Hanako Tomishima, Luca Alexander and Benedict McKay as inaugural Club Youth Captains. The primary objective of the Youth Captains is to support the Club's junior sailors and to work with the Club and the Youth Sailing committee to represent the interests of youth sailors. While these young sailors all have impressive sailing records, their most important attribute in deciding these appointments was their ongoing willingness and commitment to help others.
The Club is very proud of the very enthusiastic, energetic and growing group of youth sailors and grateful for their very supportive parents. The Youth Sailing Committee was formed in 2021 to team up with our young sailors to be voice to the for club's young sailors. The terms of reference for the Youth Sailing Committee can be found here:
Awards Ceremony Wrap up
On the 15th of May from 12pm, all members came to the club to celebrate the spring/summer series club racing awards and getting all together for the first social event of the year. It was a great afternoon, and so awesome to see the club buzzing with members both junior and senior. There was also the hand out of our club perpetual awards to recognize those who provide great representation, dedication, and support to the club! Congratulations all - bring on Winter series!!

French Olympic Week and European Championship - European Circuit
From the 23rd to 30th of April, many WSC sailors competed in french Olympic week at the Port of Hyeres. Some outstanding racing and results from our IQ Foil team in the men's division - Will McMillan finished in 19th overall and Grae Morris finished in 30th overall. In the 49er, we had Jack Ferguson place 25th overall after the weeks racing, and Otto Henry and Miles Davey's finish up in 48th. Congratulations to these sailors, we are enjoying watching your achievements.
After french Olympic week, many sailors continued on to the iQfoil week within the European championship at Surf Torbole in Lake Garda.
In the iQfoil boards, Will McMillan was best placed Australian. The 16-year-old from WSC moved up the Gold fleet leaderboard to finish 34th overall, courtesy of seventh and third places in two of the days four Slalom races. Grae Morris, scored a third followed by a trio of bullets to win the Silver fleet 23 points clear of his nearest rival. Congratulations to Will and Grae for great efforts and determination throughout the regatta.
We are hiring - Instructor courses coming up!
The club is always looking for instructors to join our team. Our sailing school has recently been recognized as the 2nd biggest sailing center in the country and we are gunning for the first spot!
Its a great place to start as an instructor, with experienced lead instructors, new equipment and lots of work all year round. If you know of anyone who might have a talent for teaching and a love of sailing get in contact with us. We will be running instructor courses and powerboat training this winter to equip candidates with the right knowledge and qualifications for a career in sailing.

Finn Gold Cup
From the 17th - 21st of May, many of the WSC Finn Fleet competed in the Finn Gold Cup in Lake Garda. There was a fleet of 110 boats which included sailors representing 17 different countries. Rob McMillian took the lead in the first race, and finished up 4th overall after 2 days of racing. After a few days of close racing against the international fleet - Rob McMillian finished in 15th, James Bevis closely following in 20th, and Marcus Whitley in 24th. Great to follow our sailors whilst they compete overseas. Congratulations of our Finn fleet!
Go Sailing for the school holidays! Holiday programs
Over the winter holiday period we are hosting holiday programs for both juniors and teens each week of the break! Our holiday programs consist of 4 days of sailing with lots of fun out on the harbour. Perfect way to spend the winter break.
