Woollahra Sailing Club and NB Sailsports Partner to deliver World Class ILCA (Laser) Youth Program

We're thrilled to have a thriving ILCA (Laser) Youth Squad at WSC providing a genuine program experience for all participants, setting the stage for a lifelong connection to the sport of sailing through the ILCA community, coaching and regattas. Our focus is on the genuine development of sailors towards their goals and objectives from team members who have genuine experience in supporting sailors as well as the requisite personal racing expertise. "Learn to ILCA" 5 sessions on Saturday mornings from 19 October, 11.30am to 2pm for those completely new to sailing, under 18 years and 50kg book

• Join Term 4 details with sessions from 19 October (Saturdays, Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays) and regatta support for the all the regattas over spring/summer.

ILCA (Laser) Youth Program - what to Expect:

• Expert Guidance: Led by the highly respected sailor and coach, Rob McMillan, the program will be both professionally structured and tailored to each of the sailors. As many will know, Rob has been working with a group of sailors in QLD as well as the JPN Sailing Team, but we are delighted to be offering this program in NSW.
• Tailored Development: Designed with the needs of youth and junior sailors in mind, our program focuses on holistic growth, preparing participants for successful transitions into and within the ILCA (Laser) classes both on and off the water. This will include other specialist coaches for specialist aspects of racing, boat handling, and physical preparation.
• Fun-Filled: Expect engaging sessions filled with learning, camaraderie, and plenty of fun! Our goal is to have fun while equipping participants with the skills they need for success in an environment where catering for youth sailing is the focus.
• Comprehensive: Outside of the sessions at Woollahra Sailing Club, our partnership includes storage, professional logistical support, priority charter boats, and regatta coaching at all major state and national events on the calendar, as well as other member benefits to make participation as easy as possible for sailors and supporters.

Schedule Details:

• Commencement Date: several sessions during each term with holiday clinics and regatta support, coaching and transport of boats
• Frequency: Sessions are held on Friday afternoon and Sunday mornings with a mid-week session over summer. Ample opportunities for skill development and racing provided including club racing at WSC.
• Location: Woollahra Sailing Club

Goals: Our short-term goals are for all participants to transition successfully into the ILCA classes, setting the stage for a rewarding sailing journey, as well as preparing for the 2024/5 season.
