Woollahra Sailing Club offers practical and engaging powerboat courses in Sydney for young people and adults looking to build confidence on the water, develop safe boat handling skills, and work towards becoming qualified powerboat drivers.
Whether you are preparing for your NSW Boat Licence, interested in supporting sailing programs, or looking to become a volunteer or assistant instructor at WSC, our powerboat training pathways provide a strong foundation in both safety and boat handling.
1. Introduction to Power Boat Driving and Handling
The Introduction to Power Boat Driving and Handling course is a two-day school holiday program designed for participants aged 12 years and over. It is ideal for those who want to learn the fundamentals of powerboat driving, on-water safety and practical boat handling in a supportive and enjoyable environment.
This course is a great first step for anyone preparing to complete the one-day Powerboat Handling course, apply for a NSW Boat Licence, or gain the practical experience needed to assist with club activities at Woollahra Sailing Club.
Participants will develop:
- Basic powerboat driving skills
- Practical knowledge of boating safety
- Confidence on the water
- Preparation for future licensing and club support roles
The course is designed to be both fun and practical, helping participants become safer and more capable powerboat drivers.
2. Powerboat Handling Course
The Powerboat Handling Course is a one-day course designed for people who want to gain the skills and qualifications needed for tender driving at sailing clubs and/or to work towards a NSW recreational boat licence.
Suitable for participants aged 12 years and over, this course is delivered at a pace that supports learning while keeping the experience practical, enjoyable and accessible. Training includes both a theory component and practical on-water instruction.
This course is delivered by Atlas Sailing.
