Term 1 2024 Saturday Kids Learn to Sail (Tackers) 6 to 11 years
The Term Tackers 1, 2 and 3 program is 8 weekly sessions on Saturdays 1pm to 3.30pm or 4pm to 6.30pm.
Session 1 3-Feb-24, session 2 10-Feb-24, session 3 17-Feb-24, session 4 2-Mar-24, session 5 9-Mar-24, session 6 16-Mar-24, session 7 23-Mar-24, session 8 6-Apr-24 The club has a big event (SailGP) 23 and 24 Feb (so tackers groups have a break after 3 weeks on the weekend of 23 and 24 Feb), Easter is March 29 to April 1, (no sessions: Thurs 28 March to Thurs 4 April).
Which Tackers Level Should I Book?
Tackers is a fun introductory, games-based sailing program designed for kids aged 6-12 yrs. Kids don't need to have any sailing experience or club membership to participate. All the equipment, including the boats, is provided. Our instructors are qualified by Australian Sailing our governing sporting body.
Tackers 1 is the first level of Tackers and is perfect for kids with little or no experience in sailing. Tackers 1 Sailors begin by sailing 2 per boat and learning the basics of sailing and boat safety. On completion of Tackers 1, instructors will advise whether or not a sailor is ready to commence Tackers 2.
Tackers 2 is the second level of Tackers and is designed for sailors who have completed Tackers 1 outcomes. Tackers 2 Sailors begin to learn how to confidently sail on their own in a boat. On completion of Tackers 2, instructors will advise whether or not a sailor is ready to commence Tackers 3.
Tackers 3 is the third level of Tackers and is designed for sailors who have completed Tackers 2 outcomes. Tackers 3 Sailors start to focus on sailing fast and advanced boat handling skills. On completion of Tackers 3, instructors will advise whether or not a sailor is ready to commence Green Fleet or Green Adventure programs.
