Australian Sailing Start Powerboating
Course is delivered in 2 parts
- Wednesday 11th May 1800 - 2100 - Online course pre learning component
- Sunday 15th May 0900 - 1700 - On water practical
The course is for beginners and those that have experience but would like some additional instruction and to get their NSW boat licence. The course covers, safety, regulations, general boat handling, docking, as well as low and high speed boat handling.
Once complete, you can take your certificate to RMS to obtain your license.
Course Overview
Your powerboating pathway begins here, introducing you to practical driving skills, trip planning, boat maintenance, safety equipment and dealing with emergency situations. In some instances, you can take your completion certificate to your State Maritime Regulator and gain the State Boat License.

Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to drive a powerboat, following the course you will have sufficient skills and knowledge to skipper a small powerboat. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Powerboating completion certificate.
