Dear Club Members,
The Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Ross Barratt as General Manager of the Woollahra Sailing Club. Ross starts on Tuesday 8th January 2019 and will transition into the role as he completes his other contracts.
Ross brings strong leadership and over 20 years of operational experience in strategy, sports administration, IT and systems, as well as valuable project management skills. Ross has delivered multi-million dollar projects leading teams at Vodafone, NSW Health, Gore Hill Ski Club, NSW State Emergency Services, NSW Justice and Sydney Adventist Hospital.
Ross has shown incredible commitment to the club including serving on the Board for the past 3 years. He brings an intimate understanding of the Club’s challenges and opportunities and has been integral in implementing a new strategic direction for the club. Ross is a lifelong sailor and an active club member.
The Board commissioned a specialist sports administration recruitment company Left Field Sports Solutions to conduct the recruitment process and Ross proved the standout candidate.
Club Secretary Diane Vukelic said “Ross’ management and board experience with sporting clubs, membership organisations, commercial organisations and government departments have already been of great value to the Club. The Board look forward to working closely with him, WSC staff and volunteers.
The Club has made great strides with more changes to come. In particular, we look forward to the new ramp (construction to start May 2019) providing increased capacity and improved access. This will provide opportunities including expanding the sailing school, membership base and improving services to members. Teaming with our full-time sailing manager, Dan Smith, we continue to commit as many resources as possible to build the core activity to ensure the club’s future.”
Ross’ appointment means his departure from the Board. His replacement will be advised as soon as possible. We’d like to thank Eddie Moore for his great contribution to WSC as interim General Manager and wish him well in his new position as CEO at CYCA.
Looking forward to the rest of the Summer Season.
Yours in sailing and paddling
WSC Commodore on behalf of the Board of the Woollahra Sailing Club
