Learn-to-Sail - Adults
Try Sailing: This two-hour course offers a first-timers a “taste” of sailing. You will learn basic boat vocabulary, essential knots and an introduction to wind-reading.
Basic Skills 1: Basic Skills 1 introduces Yachting Australia’s Getting into Small Boat Sailing syllabus. On completion you will be familiar with small boats and posses essential safety knowledge.
Basic Skills 2: This level is an extension of Basic skills 1. Basic Skills 2 includes an introduction to boat handling skills whilst under the supervision of an instructor. On completion students will be able to handle a boat in fair sailing conditions.
Beginner Skiff: Jump in and get wet with our Beginner Skiff Program. Learn skiff basics of advanced rigging, asymmetrical spinnakers, fine-tuning crew-work and steering and beginner trapeze work. This course aims to bring new sailors into our skiff racing fleets and is open to those who have completed the Basic Skills program and/or equivalent.
Private Tuition: We offer private tuition for those who wish to accelerate their learning experience. Private lessons are available in two-hour blocks of one-on-one instruction. Most adult courses are run in this format as it allows us to cater more efficiently to your availability and individual learning needs.
Group Lessons: Group lessons cover Basic Skills 1 and 2 at a ratio of 6-8 students to one instructor. Group lessons run during the summer season, or by arrangement.
